Mariners pitcher Edwin Diaz had quite a month. So much, that he has earned honors of being named Reliever of the Month. This is the second time that the young star has earned the honor this season.
In the month of June Diaz has accrued 12 saves, and has a low 1.88 ERA and a 0.977 WHIP, less than one base-runner per inning pitched. Combine those stats with 20 strikeouts and only 2 walks and it is clear why he was awarded the honors yet again.
Beat reporter Greg Johns has previously stated that Diaz is an up-and-coming candidate for the All-Star vote. However, he did make a disclaimer that he would need to keep producing like he did in April to punch his ticket to Washington.
