Mariners Closing In For AL West

The Mariners seem to be on fire. Since their matchup with the Red Sox, the Mariners have won 7 straight.

James Paxton had another stellar performance as he went 8 innings with no runs 11 strikeouts. Ben Gamel would bring in the only run, but it would be enough as the Mariners would win 1-0. The victory would bring the Mariners half a game away from 1st in the American League West.

The Mariners have been working hard to keep their division champion hopes alive. Seattle has been chasing the Houston Astros who have been on a 3 game losing streak. The Mariners are set to face the Angels and the Astros are to face the Texans. If Seattle wins and Houston loses, the Mariners will be in first place.

The Mariners find themselves on par to have their best season since 2003. The Mariners have not made the playoffs since 2001. Currently the Mariners are in the running for a wild card slot with an 8-game lead on the Athletics.
