The Washington State Cougars will be implementing a new clear-bag policy in an effort to increase safety measures for patrons at Martin Stadium this upcoming season.
“The addition of this policy is another effort to enhance gamely environment and provide the safest experiences possible at Martin Stadium… This is in line with best practices throughout the country.” – Patrick Chun, A.D.
The new policy allows fans to carry bags that are:
- Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC that do not exceed 14” x 8” x 14”
- A clear draw-string bag that is up to 14” x 14”
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag
- Small clutch bags that do not exceed the approximate size of a hand
Martin Stadium will make exceptions for medically necessary items after proper inspection upon entrance. It is also suggested that a doctor’s note or other pertinent information is presented as well.
WSU isn’t the first college team to implement the safety measure. The SEC has made it mandated for all football stadiums to implement the same procedure and most of the Pac-12 follows the same procedures. On average, over 50% of all Power 5 conference teams implement a clear-bag policy.
