Seahawks training camp is underway, but all eyes are on safety Earl Thomas and if he’ll show up. Thomas has been quite vocal about wanting a contract extension and willing to sit out camp. Now reports are coming in that he’s willing to take it further.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Thomas has made it clear that if a new contract isn’t reworked, the star is willing to take his holdout into the regular season. While the team understands why he would ploy such a childish act, they have warned him no contract will be inked if he does not show up. He has already skipped mandatory minicamp in June and it appears his holdout won’t end any time soon.
This sort of immature behavior is what turns fans against the player when they’re already making millions that can quite literally set them up for life. Administration has made it clear that if Thomas shows up, they’ll talk. At this point, Schneider should use Thomas as an example and not rescind the fines if they sign him like they did with Marshawn Lynch. We may have another Kam Chancellor situation on our hands and don’t want to start making this an annual routine.
